Favourite Fabric Shops

  • The Fancy Silk Store - My friend Nora introduced me to this place and I've never looked back! Whatever type of fabric you need, they have it. 3 floors stacked from floor to ceiling with dressmaking, evening and interior fabrics and knowledgeable and friendly staff on hand to help with any queries and scaling the walls to get what you want. The quality of their fabrics is excellent and their prices are even better! But, I would advise going in with a plan of what you want otherwise it's far too easy to get carried away! You'll find them on Moat Lane in Birmingham, just across from the market.
  • Funki Fabrics - The lovely Melissa told me about Funki Fabrics and as I was looking for some lycra at the time, I gave them a go. They have every print imaginable in lycra and extra tough lycra and they're all printed right here in the UK! With all the choices of prints and the quality of the fabric, I would recommend Funki Fabrics to anyone looking for lycra.
  • Elephant in my Handbag  - I've only ever bought craft cottons from this lovely bunch before because I would be totally bankrupt if I bought everything I wanted πŸ˜‚ They have an enormous range of craft cottons, and not just the big players, loooooads of different themes and even character prints, which can be hard to come by. They also stock a huge variety of fabric types including, fur, denim, cotton, linen, waterproof and even towelling! They also do kits, gifts, haberdashery and dressforms.
  • Rags  - This is a teeny weeny little fabric store in Worcester town centre. They only have a small amount of stock because of the size of the store, but they always seem to have something new and exciting. The prices are pretty decent for being a small individual store and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Worcester.
  • My Fabrics - This is the site that I bought the low price, but high quality leatherette from. Really good prices on a huge range of quality fabrics, but bear in mind that even though it's a .co.uk site, it actually ships from Germany so if you need your fabric rolled, then the shipping will be much higher.
  • Minerva Crafts - This is one of those sites that has a bit of everything, I've ordered from them several times and the quality, price and service is always really good.
  • Barry's Fabrics - I went here for the first time during Sew Brum 2018 and it's amazing! Huge amount of choice and really decent prices.
  • Girl Charlee - I had eyed up quite a lot of things on this site for a while, but never had any plans for jersey. I signed up for their newsletter to keep up to date and one day I was sent an email with a spin the wheel type thing where you could win a discount which I did! I got 20% off and kept it until I needed some jersey for a dress and the quality is fantastic! And the delivery is pretty speedy too πŸ˜„
  • 1st for Fabrics - I went here in search of some jersey to make a simple dress and ended up with enough to make a dress at least 2 tops and a pair of joggers! The quality is fantastic and the fabrics come packaged in pattern paper! 😍
The list is being constantly updated so keep your peepers peeled for new ones!
